Study Finds That RPA Professionals Are Seeing Massive Career Opportunities

NEW YORK–(BUSINESS WIRE) – Today at UiPath DevCon, leading robotic process automation (RPA) company UiPath released the 2020 RPA Developer Report. The report is based on a survey of 1,500 RPA occupations worldwide and shows that RPA professionals see tremendous career opportunities given the situation in the glowing automation market. Seventy percent of RPA professionals say their organization will be hiring more developers in the next year, and 84 percent agree that working as an RPA developer will have a positive impact on their next career move.

The study found that the increased demand for RPA skills in recent months is mainly due to COVID-19. 60% of respondents said the pandemic accelerated the demand for RPA around the world. This is in line with a recent study conducted by Forrester Consulting on behalf of UiPath that found that 50% of companies around the world are planning to increase RPA adoption due to the pandemic.

From July 21 to August 10, UiPath surveyed RPA experts in 84 countries, with the majority from the United States, India, and Japan. While the majority (71%) of the job title of the professionals surveyed were RPA developers, other respondents surveyed were RPA leaders / managers, solution architects, RPA specialists, and RPA infrastructure engineers. The survey found that:

  • 96 percent of RPA experts are satisfied with their careers.

  • Eighty percent of respondents think their organization values the work they do.

  • Ninety-two percent believe the RPA industry has high growth potential in the next five years, and 84 percent believe that working as an RPA developer will have a positive impact on their next career move.

  • 81 percent of those questioned feel challenged in their work. Respondents use RPA certification programs to educate themselves. 96% of certified developer respondents get their RPA certification from UiPath.

“There has never been a greater demand among companies to accelerate digital transformation efforts for business agility and continuity. RPA has proven itself as a technology that enables companies to be agile, flexible and efficient.
