SAP RPA Solution Rated as a Strong Performer by Forrester
In a recent report for The Forrester Wave Robotic Process Automation (RPA), Q1 2021, the SAP RPA solution was recognized as a “strong performer” in the industry. The report identified SAP as a major RPA provider and assessed the technology giant’s current market presence, offerings and strategy.
With new players emerging in the rapidly growing RPA market, the report highlighted the essential skills organizations should consider in an RPA solution. The top vendors in the industry were also rated using a thorough and transparent assessment method.
“SAP’s RPA solution is a strong alternative for SAP customers, especially for companies dealing with bots disrupting core SAP systems and for companies that would normally need the central SAP development team to implement RPA for a clear accountability to design, develop and maintain, or for companies looking for a role. Rich RPA tool with a broad ecosystem of partners, ”said Forrester Wave.
Sebastian Schroetel, Vice President and Head of SAP Intelligent RPA, emphasized that the goal of the solution was to provide an automation tool that fulfills all of SAP customers’ governance requirements and at the same time fits their IT landscape. He added:
“Since your Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) is a key component of your day-to-day operations, it is fine-tuned by the IT department to ensure that everything runs smoothly. Of course, our customers don’t want any interruptions in the execution of their ERP and want every software robot that interacts with the ERP to be fast and efficient, but without the risk of an additional system load. “
Forrester recognized SAP’s strategic approach in integrating RPA with its other platforms, including SAP S / 4HANA and soon to SAP Ariba and SAP SuccessFactors. The ready-made bot templates are created and managed directly by key product teams and are available in the SAP Intelligent RPA Store.
Automation success with SAP Intelligent RPA
Since its launch in 2019, the solution has steadily improved its capabilities using autonomous software robots – “bots” – and artificial intelligence (AI). By the end of 2020, the company had expanded its customer base in various industries with over 50 partners worldwide and had already achieved 1 million automations, including those from REHAU China and Villeroy and Boch.
As the first customer to go live with SAP Intelligent RPA, Villeroy and Boch have optimized their processes with the help of 10 digital assistants that automate tasks in customer service, accounts and purchasing. The solution also helped classify and review the company’s 6,000 documents per year.
In the meantime, the REHAU China team has trained a machine learning model that, in combination with the RPA bot, was able to achieve seamless automation that further increased the company’s efficiency. The Chinese branch of the multinational REHAU Group was the first to use the solution in the Asia-Pacific-Japan (APJ) region.
SAP presented SAP Intelligent RPA 2.0 at the SAP TechEd event. This new technology, which offers high flexibility while also helping to ensure IT governance, contains ready-made bot templates to increase efficiency with SAP S / 4HANA and other 12 business areas.
In addition, the software giant’s business process intelligence portfolio serves as a strategic initiative to achieve excellent processes by monitoring, analyzing and improving processes.
“We want to offer SAP customers the best RPA solution that goes far beyond the automation of robot processes. Non-technical users can use it to create automation scenarios without code and quickly deliver results with predefined content, ”concluded Schroetel.
