Google Cloud, Automation Anywhere form partnership to push RPA adoption in the enterprise

Google Cloud announced on Monday a new multi-year partnership with Automation Anywhere for robotic process automation (RPA). The companies will work together on go-to-market activities and joint product development efforts to accelerate the adoption of RPA in the enterprise.

The RPA software seeks to understand how people process transactions or perform a task, and then use these rules to create automated systems that can perform these roles instead. The largest users of RPA today include banks, insurance companies, utilities, and telecommunications companies.

As part of their new alliance, Automation Anywhere will become the preferred RPA partner of Google Cloud, while Google Cloud will act as the primary cloud provider for Automation Anywhere. Automation Anywhere’s Automation 360 platform will be available on Google Cloud, and the two companies will jointly develop AI and RPA-based services.

In the meantime, Google will also integrate Automation Anywhere’s RPA capabilities into several Google Cloud products, including Apigee and Appsheet. The companies will also develop industry-specific services targeting supply chains, healthcare, telecommunications, retail, public sector and financial services organizations.

“As companies increasingly work in the cloud, RPA offers the opportunity to optimize processes in both cloud-native applications and legacy local systems. This ultimately helps employees spend less time on repetitive tasks and more time supporting business-critical projects to spend, “said RPA Thomas Kurian, CEO of Google Cloud. “We are proud to partner with Automation Anywhere to help organizations rapidly deploy and scale RPA capabilities on Google Cloud and address business challenges with solutions specifically designed for the industry.”

RPA is a hot place as the COVID-19 pandemic accelerated the need for automation. Blue Prism, Automation Anywhere, and Pegasystems are some of the larger RPA providers.
