Capgemini signs RPA collaboration deal with UiPath
Capgemini and UiPath have signed a 3 year contract to merge their robotic process automation offerings. Through the transaction, Capgemini will leverage UiPath’s software to offer its customers a full range of automation options while giving UiPath access to an international customer base.
UiPath is a software developer for Robotic Process Automation (RPA) founded in Romania in 2012. The company develops software that is able to replace human operators at the presentation level of the application software – where people previously entered the company. UiPath produces software that is used in companies that require robotic solutions in areas such as document management, call centers, application integration and business process outsourcing.
The move of RPA to replace large numbers of manual and repetitive workers with virtual workers has the potential to cut costs significantly while freeing human talent for more creative roles. The technology also offers significant headroom for improving the accuracy of manually repetitive tasks. According to the analyst firm Gartner, RPA will reduce the costs of many IT services by 60% by 2017 due to the rapid development of automation technology. Several companies have introduced service lines in anticipation of demand, including advisory and consultancy firms such as Aecus and Alsbridge.
Capgemini has also invested in delivering RPA solutions to customers through its BPO Global Delivery Network. The company has worked with a number of multinational companies to provide solutions for data entry automation, file and data manipulation, automated formatting, and multi-format message creation.
Working with UiPath will enable Capgemini to further improve its BPO offerings for customers in areas such as manual and labor-intensive activities in functions such as human resources, finance, accounting and supply chain management. The agreement gives UiPath access to Capgemini’s international customers who will use the software. The collaboration underscores Capgemini’s overall industrialization strategy, which aims to provide RPA for the full range of managed solutions as international demand increases.
“The new wave of Robotic Process Automation offerings has greatly increased our ability to increase efficiency, with a higher level of accuracy, resulting in labor-intensive back-office functions being replaced with advanced technology,” said Jon Bell, Senior Vice- President and Head of Capgemini’s BPO Global Delivery Network. “Our global delivery capability combined with our new collaboration with UiPath will enable us to offer these services and improved results to our customers around the world.”
Daniel Dines, CEO of UiPath, added, “We are excited to partner with Capgemini in the emerging field of Robotic Process Automation. This relationship is based on a mutual understanding of the value that each company brings. Capgemini recognizes our technology as the next generation – specifically, our superior computer vision-based automation of applications delivered through Citrix. For our part, UiPath is well aware of Capgemini’s extensive knowledge of business processes, automation implementation and change management. I am confident that this collaboration will set new standards for growth and excellence in the RPA sector. “
